|I wanted to personally reach out to all of you during these trying times. It is my wish that each and every one of you, including your loved ones, remains healthy and safe. Please know that I have been working closely with our Board of Directors and Eric Welch, our Executive Director, to keep the safety of our staff and volunteers as our top priority. We have instituted a strict COVID-19 Policy that is now in effect at the NAMIGO office.
Earlier this month, the decision was made to postpone and/or cancel classes, support groups, presentations and other programs. NAMIGO has decided to extend these cancellations through April 15th. We are constantly monitoring the situation and will re-evaluate accordingly. NAMIGO is also discussing innovative ideas to deliver services to those in need during this time such as online support groups, etc. We will send information about this to our NAMIGO facilitators and circle back with the community as soon as we have finalized the details.
The NAMIGO office is prepared to remain functioning and if we are advised to go to a remote platform, we will continue to support our community to the best of our capability. NAMIGO phone lines will remain open during regular business hours.
As for NAMIWalks 2020, it has been decided that we will postpone the event to Saturday, May 30th. We have secured this date with Crane’s Roost Park so mark your calendars as we will be looking forward to coming together to celebrate!
It is difficult to know the mental health repercussions of this crisis as it unfolds. What we can tell you is that our services, classes and support groups will be needed more than ever when that time comes. It is our staff, volunteers, community partners and your support that will help us continue our mission.
Thank you for your support of NAMI Greater Orlando.
