Storytelling Saves Lives!

Storytelling Saves Lives!

NAMI Greater Orlando is excited to bring the powerful This Is My Brave Show to Orlando. Through song, essay and poetry, the production showcases the personal stories of local individuals living successful, full lives despite mental illness, on stage in front of a live audience. Through the sharing of stories and experiences of those in recovery, the show provides a sense of community and hope, and encourage others to share their stories.

This Is My Brave is a show about what it’s like to live through mental illness and come out on the other side. Shows have been produced across the U.S. This will be the first production in Central Florida.

Share your BRAVE – auditions for the Orlando show will be at various times in Maitland from October 28-30. We’re seeking individuals who have a talent in writing or music and are ready to share their story (up to five minutes in length) of living a successful life despite having experienced a mental health issue.

The collection of “snippets” of life will build awareness and compassion as well as fight stigma. This show will celebrate the strength, resilience and power of the story each individual has to share.

Plan now to join us on January 28, 2018 at the Orlando Museum of Art to support the This Is My Brave vision: One day we will live in a world where we won’t have to call it “brave” when talking about mental illness. We’ll just call it talking. Learn more about this non-profit organization at
